In horse racing there is a term call "Honkakuka", which can be roughly translate as "become full-fledged." It means a horse had mature on both physiological and psychological level to the point it can race at serious level.
The same thing happens on Umamusume too, they only make their debut after they Honkakuka, instead of classic took place in specific age, it took place the 2nd year after they Honkakuka.
And everyone enter this period in different age, this explain why Umamusume A can be older than B, but endup debut later than B.

This season starts slow paced, but it all builds up to later episodes.

If you know her events, she’s great for energy management: reduced energy cost, lower failure chance, multiple events that restore stamina, and she can fix bad conditions twice. She also gives stat bonuses on any training, plus Concentration (gold, essential for Front/Pacer) and Tail-Held-High, a decent speed skill.
Sure, she’s not ideal for max rank runs, but she makes URA much more stable and easier. Back in June 2021 on JP server, she was the #2 most used support card for high rankers in URA. She’s rated lower now only because later scenarios have better friend cards. While you’re still in URA, I’d suggest giving her a try.

Tracen Academy is like the Field of Dreams of horse racing. Time doesn't really make sense and everyone's there at the same time.

Horses are racing when they're 2-3 years old so it's kind of funny to imagine that they go from child to adult in less than 2 years and everyone just goes with it.
